Damien Chazelle

Damien Chazelle is a Harvard-educated musician, director, and screenwriter known for his contributions to contemporary cinema and television. Chazelle’s breakout film, "Whiplash," began as a proof-of-concept short that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and later expanded into a feature-length drama about a jazz drummer and his demanding teacher. The film received critical acclaim and won three Academy Awards.

Chazelle gained further recognition with "La La Land," a modern movie musical that became a box office success. The film won seven Golden Globes, including Best Director, and was nominated for a record 14 Academy Awards. Chazelle earned the Academy Award for Best Director for "La La Land," becoming the youngest filmmaker to receive both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Director.

Chazelle directed "First Man," a biographical drama about astronaut Neil Armstrong, which was nominated for four Academy Awards and won for Best Visual Effects. Expanding into television, Chazelle created "The Eddy," an eight-episode Netflix miniseries set in Paris. He also wrote and directed "Babylon," a period drama set in 1920s Hollywood, which received multiple Golden Globe nominations and reinforced his reputation for innovative storytelling and visual style in the film industry.
