Dak Prescott

Dakota "Dak" Prescott is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). Prescott is the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and is fully recovered from a hamstring injury that ended his 2024 season early. He is expected to be ready for Week 1 of the 2025 season.

Prescott has experienced significant grief due to the loss of his mother, Peggy Prescott, to cancer in 2013, and his brother, Jace Prescott, who died by suicide in 2020.

Prescott was named the 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year. The award, presented by Nationwide, recognizes a player's excellence on the field and their commitment to community service. Prescott's non-profit, Faith Fight Finish, focuses on empowering individuals and communities through adversity, inspired by his mother's words.

He played college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and was selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Intended to serve as a backup in his rookie season, Prescott became the Cowboys' starting quarterback after starter Tony Romo was injured in the preseason, and earned recognition during the year for his on-field success, which included helping the team clinch the top seed in their conference. Prescott set several rookie quarterback records and was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and also earned a Pro Bowl selection.
