DaVon Hamilton

DaVon Hamilton is a professional NFL defensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars, recognized as a dependable anchor along the team's interior defensive line. Hamilton played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he developed into a run-stopper before entering the National Football League. He was drafted by the Jaguars in the third round, 73rd overall, and has since become a cornerstone of the team's defensive front.

Hamilton's NFL career is marked by resilience and steady improvement. Hamilton recorded a career-high 62 tackles, including 34 solo, across 17 regular-season games, reinforcing his reputation as a reliable presence in the middle of Jacksonville's defense. His contributions extend beyond statistics, with defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile noting that Hamilton does much of the essential work that enables the entire unit to function effectively.

Hamilton faced a significant medical challenge when an MRI revealed a spinal epidural abscess with severe spinal cord compression, a rare infection in the spinal canal that can cause pain, weakness, numbness, and potential permanent paralysis if not treated promptly. Jaguars doctors had not previously encountered this type of infection in an NFL player, and it was also unfamiliar to other league physicians. Surgeons performed a minimally invasive procedure to drain the infection, and Hamilton was walking in the ICU just two days later, showing no signs of lingering paralysis. He has since spoken openly about the experience, sharing his story to help others facing adversity.

Hamilton's return to the field demonstrated his versatility and commitment to the team. During a Week 13 victory against the Tennessee Titans, he served as an emergency long snapper after the starter was injured, handling snaps for an extra point, a field goal, and three punts. Teammates and coaches acknowledged the difficulty of the position and his readiness to step in. Hamilton is also the older brother of Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Ty Hamilton, making the Hamilton family one of the few NFL households with two brothers playing at the highest level.
