D'Artagnan Bebel

D'Artagnan Bebel is a prominent figure in American local broadcasting, with a career spanning nearly four decades marked by innovation, community advocacy, and a commitment to diversity. Bebel is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast management, cum laude. He later attended Columbia University Graduate School of Business, receiving a Master of Business Administration in marketing, magna cum laude. Bebel has been recognized with the Howard University School of Communications Alumnus of the Year Award, and his photograph is on permanent display at the school.

For more than two decades, Bebel served as senior vice president and general manager for FOX Television's owned and operated stations in Houston, including FOX 26 KRIV, My20 KTXH, and Fox26Houston.com. He was promoted to that position from Memphis, Tennessee, where he served as vice president and general manager at Fox 13 WHBQ-TV. In Houston, Bebel expanded the stations' local newscasts and programming from 22 to 141 hours per week, emphasizing the importance of locally originated content. He developed news franchise segments such as "FOX FACEOFF," "THE ISIAH FACTOR," "YOUR FAMILY MATTERS," and the Emmy Award-winning "MYFOXHOUSTONLIVE!.com."

Bebel has used broadcast media to address social issues, including leading the station's series "People for Sale: Houston's Dirty Little Secret," which prompted the City of Houston to form an interagency task force to combat human trafficking. His leadership during severe weather events and the COVID-19 pandemic ensured the flow of vital information to the community while prioritizing employee safety. Bebel has also advocated for the broadcast industry before lawmakers in the Texas Legislature and in Congress, building relationships with elected officials.

The Texas Association of Broadcasters honored Bebel with its Pioneer Broadcaster of the Year award, recognizing his career as a champion for innovation, diversity, and community outreach. Fox Soul appointed Bebel as general manager and head of programming for the streaming network, a live streaming channel dedicated to Black culture, where he continued to oversee the Houston stations. His commitment to community outreach includes service to organizations such as the NAB Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board, American Women in Media, and the Emma Bowen Foundation.

In addition to his broadcasting work, Bebel is a keynote and motivational speaker for galas, community events, colleges, and schools. He has performed as special guest narrator with the Houston Symphony for performances of "Peter & The Wolf." Throughout his career, Bebel has mentored a new generation of broadcast leaders who have advanced to top positions at stations in various markets, both within and outside the FOX-owned group of stations, establishing his legacy as a media executive and mentor in American broadcasting.
