Cristo Fernández

Cristo Fernández is a Mexican actor, filmmaker, and professional footballer whose career bridges the worlds of entertainment and sports. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications at UNIVA GDL, Fernández moved to London to further his studies, earning a master's degree from the Guildford School of Acting at the University of Surrey. Following his academic pursuits, Fernández focused on creating independent projects as an actor, director, writer, and producer to build a diverse portfolio.

After appearing in several independent films, Fernández was cast in the Apple TV+ comedy series "Ted Lasso," where he played Dani Rojas across three seasons. His character became known for an upbeat personality and the catchphrase, "Fútbol is life." Fernández's portrayal contributed to increased Latin American representation in global television. He was part of the "Ted Lasso" ensemble that received an award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Additionally, he received the Rising Star Award for Television from the Critics Choice Association during the Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television, presented by director Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Fernández expanded his presence in the film industry with roles in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts," and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3." He also appeared in the State Farm commercial "Bundle is Life" alongside Patrick Mahomes. Beyond acting, Fernández launched his production company Espectro MX Films, which won Best Short Film at the Premios Latino in Marbella, Spain, for the short film "Fuera de Serie."

Fluent in four languages in addition to his native Spanish, Fernández has worked on projects globally, both on stage and on screen. In the German-language Swiss sitcom "Unsere kleine Botschaft," he played embassy staff member Fernando, performing in fluent German. Fernández's career pivoted from soccer to acting after two significant knee injuries, but he later signed a professional soccer contract with El Paso Locomotive FC following a two-month trial. Fernández continues to balance his dual careers in acting and professional sports, contributing to both the entertainment and athletic industries.
