Courtney Dauwalter

Courtney Dauwalter is recognized as a leading ultra trail runner, noted for record-setting performances and resilience in ultramarathon events. After competing in track, cross-country, and Nordic skiing in Minnesota, Dauwalter raced on the Nordic ski team at the University of Denver before transitioning to distance running and progressing to ultra distances.

Dauwalter became a full-time professional runner after a teaching career in Denver. She gained international attention by winning the Moab 240 Mile Endurance Run outright, setting a course record, and continued to set records at events such as the Tahoe 200 and Big's Backyard Ultra.

Dauwalter became the first person to win the Western States 100, Hardrock 100, and Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in the same year, securing the sport's "Triple Crown." She has also won Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc multiple times and has stood on the podium at top ultramarathons worldwide, including victories at Mt. Fuji 100, Transgrancanaria, and Madeira Island Ultra Trail.

Dauwalter is known for her mental toughness, unique approach to racing—including her signature baggy shorts—and her curiosity about human endurance. She shares insights on ultrarunning, endurance sports, and mental strategies through public speaking. Dauwalter lives and trains in Leadville, Colorado, and remains a prominent figure in ultrarunning.
