Cooper Flagg

Cooper Flagg is a forward for the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA), recognized for his significant impact in professional basketball. Flagg played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils, where he earned consensus first-team All-American and consensus national player of the year honors as a freshman. At Duke, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, receiving honors such as the Naismith and Wooden awards for best college player. He was named both ACC Player of the Year and ACC Rookie of the Year, joining Zion Williamson, Marvin Bagley III, and Jahlil Okafor as the only players in conference history to win both awards in the same season.

Before his college career, Flagg was invited to join the USA Select Team at age 17, where he scored 17 points in a game against the national team, which included players such as LeBron James and Stephen Curry. He has been regarded as one of the top American basketball prospects since Zion Williamson and Anthony Davis. After his freshman season, Flagg declared for the NBA draft, forgoing his remaining college eligibility, and was selected with the first overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks.

In his NBA debut season, Flagg tied LeBron James as the youngest player to score at least 25 points in an NBA game at 18 years and 324 days. He scored 42 points in a game against the Utah Jazz, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to score at least 40 points in a game, surpassing LeBron James's previous record. Flagg later recorded a career-high 51 points against the Orlando Magic, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to score 50 or more points at 19 years and 103 days old. He was also the first rookie since Michael Jordan to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

Flagg was named NBA Rookie of the Year, earning the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy. He narrowly surpassed Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel, his fellow Duke Blue Devils alumnus, in first-place votes. Flagg is the second-youngest player to win the award, behind only LeBron James. During the season, Flagg averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Through his scoring, playmaking, and defensive versatility, Flagg has established himself as a prominent figure in the next generation of NBA basketball.
