Colony House

Colony House is an indie rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, recognized for its melodic, guitar-driven sound described as landlocked surf rock. The group consists of brothers Caleb Chapman (lead vocals, guitar) and Will Chapman (drums), along with guitarist Scott Mills and bassist Parke Cottrell. Caleb and Will are the sons of contemporary Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman. The brothers began making music with Scott Mills in 2009, developing an indie rock style influenced by alternative rock bands such as U2 and Cold War Kids. Originally named Caleb, the band adopted the name Colony House in reference to an apartment complex where they had lived.

Colony House self-released three EPs before releasing the debut album, "When I Was Younger." The album reached No. 154 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. The lead single, "Silhouettes," became the most played track on SiriusXM's Alt Nation for several months. The band made its television debut on NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and has performed on Conan and The Today Show. The lineup expanded to include Parke Cottrell on bass as the band toured extensively.

The second studio album, "Only the Lonely," features the track "You Know It," which gained popularity on TikTok and Instagram Reels and was included in a global Samsung Mobile campaign, surpassing 100 million streams. The album charted at No. 76 on the Billboard 200. Colony House continued to explore cinematic and ambitious themes with "Leave What's Lost Behind," an album that showcased the band's creative range. The group also released the concert film "Everybody Is Looking for Some Light," the live album "Colony House Live, Vol. 1," and the "Rotten Tomatoes" EP, which includes a guest appearance from Fleurie on the song "Automatic."

The fourth album, "The Cannonballers," features surf guitars, melodic hooks, and nostalgic lyrics. The single "Cannonballers" reached No. 11 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, highlighting the band's evolving blend of energetic and introspective songwriting. To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of their debut, Colony House released "When I Was Younger (10 Years Later)," a deluxe edition with bonus tracks and orchestral versions. The band continued its creative output with the fifth studio album, "'77," which incorporates synths and prominent drums. Colony House is known for an emotion-driven rock sound that draws on surf and retro-lounge influences, with several tracks achieving multi-million streaming status and connecting with audiences through honest and energetic music.
