Colleen Shogan Biography
Colleen Shogan, an accomplished academic and author, held the prestigious role as the Archivist of the United States from May 17, 2023, until February 7, 2025. She made history as the first woman confirmed as the nation's archivist. Prior to this, Shogan was the director of the David M. Rubenstein Center for White House History at the White House Historical Association. Her academic credentials include being an assistant professor of government and politics at George Mason University and serving as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University. Shogan's contributions to the world of academia are underlined by her book, "Moral Rhetoric of American Presidents."
Post her dismissal as Archivist, Shogan was hired by More Perfect, a nonpartisan nonprofit, as a senior advisor and CEO of In Pursuit. In addition to her work in academia and public service, Shogan is also a successful author of eight murder mystery novels, including "Stabbing in the Senate," "Homicide in the House," "Larceny at the Library," and "Gore in the Garden." These novels are part of the Washington Whodunit series, featuring the character Kit Marshall. Through her work at More Perfect, Shogan continues to bring national history to young people and Americans across the country.
