Cole Hamels

Cole Hamels is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher known for his impressive 15-year career, most notably with the Philadelphia Phillies. A four-time All-Star and World Series MVP, Hamels earned a reputation as one of the most consistent and dominant left-handed pitchers of his era.

Born in San Diego, California, Hamels was drafted by the Phillies in the first round of the 2002 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut in 2006 and quickly established himself as the team’s ace. In 2008, he helped lead the Phillies to a World Series championship, earning both NLCS and World Series MVP honors thanks to a dominant postseason performance.

Over the course of his career, Hamels also played for the Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves. Among his many achievements is a no-hitter he threw in 2015 at Wrigley Field. He finished his career with over 160 wins and more than 2,500 strikeouts.

Off the field, Hamels is known for his philanthropic efforts. He and his wife founded The Hamels Foundation, which supports education initiatives in the U.S. and abroad. In a notable act of generosity, they donated a multimillion-dollar home to a nonprofit organization serving children with special needs and chronic illnesses.
