Col. Simon Hirst OBE Biography
Colonel (Retd) Simon Hirst OBE was a senior officer in the British Army with over 35 years distinguished service. After graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he held various leadership roles from Troop to Battalion Command, the majority of which were in Germany. This included his successful graduation from the German Armed Forces Advanced Command and Staff Course in Hamburg. He has deployed on multiple complex and high-pressure operational tours in key roles as a professional logistician and qualified Ammunition Technical Officer including the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan with the UN and NATO. Non -operational deployments include India, Malaysia, Canada, Oman, Kenya and Jordan.
In his last role he served as Military Attaché to the British Embassy Berlin and Senior Liaison Officer to the German Army before joining Defense Industry as a strategic advisor. In recognition of his exemplary leadership and improving Anglo/German operational capabilities he was appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the King’s New Year Honors List. He remains Berlin based with his German wife and two daughters and in his spare time enjoys keeping his old Landover Defender on the road, organizing battlefield tours and walking his dog Max.
