Clayton Kershaw

Clayton Kershaw is a professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball. A left-handed starting pitcher, Kershaw has spent his entire MLB career with the Dodgers. He is a ten-time All-Star, three-time National League Cy Young Award winner, National League Most Valuable Player, and World Series champion. His 2.48 career earned run average and 1.00 walks plus hits per inning pitched rate are the lowest among starters in the live-ball era, with a minimum of 1,000 innings pitched.

Kershaw was drafted seventh overall in the MLB draft and advanced through the Dodgers' farm system in one full season, reaching the majors at age 20. Upon his debut, he was the youngest player in MLB, a distinction he held for a full year. Kershaw won the pitching Triple Crown and the National League Cy Young Award, becoming the youngest pitcher to achieve either since Dwight Gooden.

Kershaw pitched a no-hitter, becoming the 22nd Dodger to do so. He has led MLB in earned run average five times and was the first major league pitcher to do so in four consecutive years. Kershaw is also a three-time National League wins leader and three-time National League strikeouts leader. As a left-handed strikeout pitcher for the Dodgers, he has often drawn comparisons to Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax. Kershaw announced that he is retiring following the 2025 season.

Off the field, Kershaw is active in volunteer work. He and his wife launched Kershaw's Challenge and wrote the book "Arise" to raise money for an orphanage in Zambia. He has been honored with the Roberto Clemente Award and the Branch Rickey Award for his humanitarian efforts.
