Clark Kellogg

Clark Kellogg is a seasoned design and innovation expert, lecturer, and practicing artist whose work spans more than three decades across design, strategy, and creative practice. He is Continuing Professional Faculty in Creativity, Design, and Innovation at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, where he has taught since 2010. At Haas, Kellogg leads courses in design thinking, creativity, innovation, and human-centered design, including Fundamentals of Design Thinking, The Creativity Lab, Design Thinking and Innovation for Business, and Sustainability, Art, and Business. He also serves as Haas Artist-in-Residence and Faculty Lead of the Innovation, Creativity & Design Practice.

Trained originally as an architect at UC Berkeley, Kellogg’s interdisciplinary career began in architecture and evolved into graphic and product design, brand strategy, and organizational innovation. Over the years, he has founded and led multiple creative enterprises, including Kellogg Design in New York City, which applied design thinking to corporate strategy, and later The Berkeley Innovation Group (BIG), an innovation consultancy he co-founded to help organizations tackle complex challenges using human-centered design principles. He was also the first designer to sit on the Executive Committee of a Fortune 500 company, where he established the State Street Global Advisors Innovation and Communications Lab.

Kellogg’s impact extends beyond the classroom. He has delivered innovation workshops and consulting engagements for corporations, non-profits, governments, and universities around the world, including in North America, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. A passionate practitioner of creativity, he is also a dedicated studio artist and completed a year-long project in which he created an artwork every day, demonstrating his commitment to creative practice as both a personal discipline and an instructional tool.

His teaching emphasizes experiential learning, collaborative exploration, and the cultivation of creative confidence — helping students reframe problems, empathize with users, prototype boldly, and lead with innovation. Kellogg lives in Berkeley, California, where he continues to blend artistic practice with design education and strategic innovation.
