Cindy Holland

Cindy Holland is recognized as a leading executive in the streaming television industry, known for her role in transforming Netflix from a DVD-by-mail service into a global platform for original content. During her 18-year tenure at Netflix, including nine years as vice president of original content, Holland oversaw the development and launch of original programming. She previously managed domestic TV licensing and began her career at the company in DVD acquisition. Before joining Netflix, Holland held business and creative development positions at e-commerce startup Kozmo.com and film production companies such as Mutual Film Company and Baltimore/Spring Creek.

As vice president of original content, Holland established Netflix's original programming strategy and led teams responsible for titles including "House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black," "BoJack Horseman," "Grace and Frankie," "Narcos," "Making a Murderer," "Stranger Things," "The Crown," "Icarus," "Ozark," "Big Mouth," "Russian Doll," "When They See Us," and "The Queen's Gambit." Under her leadership, Netflix launched projects across drama, comedy, family and young adult, documentaries, unscripted, stand-up specials, and docuseries. The company earned a significant number of Emmy nominations and secured overall deals with creators such as Shonda Rhimes, Kenya Barris, Jenji Kohan, Ryan Murphy, and Janet Mock.

Holland was named to the Time 100 list of most influential people. Her leadership style is noted for supporting creative talent and building effective teams within the entertainment industry.

After her time at Netflix, Holland served as CEO of Sister, the production company founded by Elisabeth Murdoch and Jane Featherstone. She later became a senior adviser to Skydance Media CEO David Ellison and contributed to content strategy and acquisition for Genvid Entertainment, a subsidiary of Genvid focused on livestreaming technology.

Holland has also been appointed chair of the direct-to-consumer unit for Paramount Skydance, overseeing the SVOD platform Paramount+ and the free ad-supported streaming TV service Pluto TV. A Stanford University graduate, Holland's career spans film production, e-commerce, and executive leadership in the streaming media sector, continuing to influence how audiences access and experience digital entertainment.
