Christine Blasey Ford

Christine Blasey Ford is a professor of psychology at Palo Alto University and a clinical professor and consulting biostatistician at Stanford University School of Medicine. Ford specializes in designing statistical models for research projects and has served as a research psychologist for Stanford University's Department of Psychiatry and as a professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine Collaborative Clinical Psychology Program. She holds a bachelor's degree in experimental psychology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master's degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University, a PhD in educational psychology from University of Southern California, and a master's degree in epidemiology with a focus on biostatistics from Stanford University School of Medicine.

Ford teaches advanced students about research methods, statistics, and clinical trial design, and has collaborated with pharmaceutical companies and the Food and Drug Administration. She has co-authored numerous articles and books on psychology topics, including depression and childhood coping mechanisms. Among her academic publications is "How Many Subjects?: Statistical Power Analysis in Research," a reference work widely used by researchers designing studies. Her research appears in various academic journals.

Ford became nationally recognized after publicly alleging that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in 1982 and testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee during Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination hearings. The testimony contributed to a broader public discussion about sexual assault, accountability, and the treatment of survivors in society.

Ford has received recognition from Time magazine, which included her on its shortlist for Person of the Year and named her among the 100 most influential people in Time 100. She received the inaugural Christine Blasey Ford Woman of Courage Award, the ACLU's Roger Baldwin Courage Award, and a nomination for the Chapel Hill Distinguished Alumna Award by University of North Carolina.

Ford is the author of the memoir "One Way Back," a New York Times bestseller. In the book, she recounts her efforts to share information related to her testimony while protecting her family's safety, drawing parallels between her experiences and her life as a surfer. The memoir provides insight into the events surrounding her testimony and its aftermath, offering a personal perspective on speaking out under public scrutiny.
