Chris Finch Biography
Chris Finch is currently the head coach of the NBA team, the Minnesota Timberwolves. His tenure began on February 22, 2021 and he has been instrumental in leading the team to a 46-36 finish and their first playoff berth since 2018 in his first full season. His coaching prowess was acknowledged in the 2021-22 NBA Coach of the Year race, where he received four 3rd-place votes. Finch's dedication to his team was evident when he returned from a patellar tendon rupture during the 2024 NBA playoffs, leading the Timberwolves in a memorable Game 7 comeback against the Denver Nuggets.
Finch has a rich history in the sport with experience in various international leagues. He led Euphony Bree to the Belgian League championship in 2005 and secured the British League Cup twice, in 1999 and 2000, along with the British League Trophy in 1998. Finch also coached the Great Britain men's national team at FIBA EuroBasket in 2009 and 2011, as well as the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was named NBA All-Star Game head coach in 2024 and was a top-three finalist for NBA Coach of the Year in the same year.
Before his tenure with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Finch served as an assistant coach for several NBA teams, including the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Toronto Raptors. His successful track record also includes coaching the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to the NBA D-League championship in 2010, a feat that earned him the NBA D-League Coach of the Year title.
