Cheryl Cheng

Cheryl Cheng is a venture capital investor with more than 16 years of experience backing early-stage software companies in healthcare, enterprise applications, and fintech. Cheng has invested in early to growth stage companies across sectors including developer tools, digital health, and enterprise software. She combines finance, marketing, and operational experience to support company growth. Cheng holds a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, where she was a Forte Scholar.

Cheng's career in venture capital was influenced by her background in brand management and consumer marketing. Before joining BlueRun Ventures, she worked at Clorox and The Sharper Image, launching products and managing retail marketing with partners such as Target and Walmart. Her involvement in health and wellness initiatives at The Clorox Company provided operational experience that informed her investment approach. At BlueRun Ventures, Cheng was promoted to general partner and focused on mobile and data opportunities in enterprise and consumer markets. She led investments in digital health and wellness companies including Hello Heart, gennev, and Blue Fever, and worked with companies such as HumanAPI, Waze, Chomp, and Kabbage.

After BlueRun, Cheng founded Vive Collective, a healthcare investment platform dedicated to building, funding, and scaling digital health companies. At Vive, she served on the boards of Kiddo, a pediatric remote patient monitoring company, and SamaCare, a prior authorization platform for specialty medications. Cheng has also advised Stanford's BioDesign program, teaching go-to-market strategies and mentoring faculty and student teams, and served on the advisory board for Yale Medical School's Digital Health and Innovation Center.

Cheng later joined Microsoft's corporate venturing arm, M12, as managing partner, investing in early-stage companies in enterprise software and artificial intelligence. Her focus includes healthcare and fintech investments where data, AI, and software improve employee and customer experiences. Cheng has discussed the rapid adoption of AI in healthcare in public forums, including appearances on Bloomberg Television's "The Close." She is also a co-founder of Ren Capital and an advisor at the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign. Cheng's career is characterized by company building, cross-sector expertise, and a focus on the intersection of technology and human health, with significant experience in enterprise AI and digital health investing.
