Chase Daniel

Chase Daniel, a retired professional football player, reflects a successful career primarily as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). His journey includes playing for several NFL teams such as the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and Los Angeles Chargers. Daniel's accomplishments on the field include his contribution to the New Orleans Saints' Super Bowl XLIV victory as the backup quarterback. In his college career at the University of Missouri, he was a First-team All-Big 12 in 2007, a Second-team All-Big 12 in 2006, and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2007. He also stood as a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2007, securing fourth place.

Adding to his sports career, Daniel has been a prominent figure in the media. He appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in December 2007 and was featured on the cover of ESPN the Magazine with teammate Chase Patton. His college career saw him become the Missouri career total offense yardage leader with 13,256 yards. Post-college, Daniel started his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Redskins in 2009. He served as the primary backup quarterback to Drew Brees for the New Orleans Saints from 2010 to 2012, and was a part of the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV Championship team.

In September 2023, Daniel announced his retirement from professional football after fourteen seasons. He transitioned into a full-time media career, contributing to multiple outlets, including the NFL Network and co-hosting "The Facility." His NFL career spanned 74 games, starting 5, and recording 1,746 passing yards and 9 touchdowns. Daniel's final NFL appearance was in Week 18 for the Los Angeles Chargers against the Denver Broncos, where he completed a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion. Besides his sports and media career, Daniel has also contributed to the community by setting up an endowed scholarship at the University of Missouri in 2011.
