Charles E. Owubah

Dr. Charles E. Owubah is the chief executive officer of Action Against Hunger USA, where he provides strategic leadership to a global team focused on ending hunger and malnutrition. Under Owubah's guidance, the organization has expanded its reach to serve more than 21 million people annually across over 55 countries, implementing solutions and evidence-based programs that address the root causes of hunger, including food insecurity, conflict, and climate change. His expertise in program design, monitoring, and evaluation has contributed to scaling sustainable water, sanitation, and nutrition initiatives that deliver measurable impact in vulnerable communities.

Owubah has more than 25 years of experience in relief and development, including nearly two decades at World Vision prior to joining Action Against Hunger. He holds a doctorate in natural resource management and policy from Purdue University, which recognized him with its Distinguished Agriculture Alumnus Award. Owubah serves on the boards of Global Impact and KickStart International, is a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council, and has contributed to the United Nations High-level Task Force on Famine Prevention and Response.

Owubah has been recognized by Causeartist as one of the Top 25 Inspiring Nonprofit Leaders and is the recipient of the inaugural James T. Morris Humanitarian Award. He is a public speaker and media contributor, sharing insights on hunger prevention, humanitarian innovation, and nonprofit leadership.
