Charles Dance is an English actor, screenwriter, and film director known for his portrayals of authoritative and intellectually complex characters across stage, film, and television. Dance began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company, making his London debut in "Hamlet." He gained widespread recognition through his role in Granada Television's miniseries "The Jewel in the Crown," where he played a colonial soldier navigating romance and intrigue during the final days of the British Raj.
