Casey Gwinn

Casey Gwinn, Esq., serves as the president of Alliance for HOPE International, a leading organization in the field of domestic violence prevention and trauma recovery. Gwinn is an honors graduate of Stanford University and UCLA School of Law. He served as the elected city attorney of San Diego for eight years, during which time he contributed to significant changes in domestic violence prosecution in the United States. Gwinn is the founder of the Family Justice Center movement and Camp HOPE America, a pioneering camping and mentoring program for children impacted by domestic violence. He also co-founded the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention, providing training for professionals nationwide and internationally on the handling of near-fatal strangulation assaults.

Gwinn is recognized for his expertise in the science of hope and trauma-informed care for adult and child survivors of trauma. He regularly trains professionals on developing hope-centered approaches in their work and personal lives. Alliance for HOPE International measures hope, resiliency, and well-being in its programs for survivors, professionals, and staff.

Gwinn's work has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, CBS The Early Show, ABC Nightly News, NBC’s Dateline, USA Today, The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, The New York Times, New Yorker Magazine, and other major news outlets. He has received several awards, including the Ronald Wilson Reagan Public Policy Award from the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime, the Women’s E-News 21 Leaders for the 21st Century, and New York’s Abely Award for Leading Women and Children to Safety.

Gwinn has authored or co-authored 11 books. His book, written with Dr. Chan Hellman from the Hope Research Center at the University of Oklahoma, is titled "Hope Rising: How the Science of HOPE Can Change Your Life." He is also the author of the children’s lullaby book "Goodnight Moonbright," which introduces children and parents to the science of hope.
