Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz, currently a quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL), has a storied career in the NFL. Starting his journey as a 5-time FCS champion during his college years from 2011 to 2015, Wentz was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. His early career was marked by several accolades, including being named the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 1 of his NFL career, setting a league record for most completions by a rookie with 379, and setting a single-season franchise record for the Eagles with 607 pass attempts. His academic achievements were not to be overshadowed, as Wentz twice earned recognition as an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

As he continued to impress on the field, Wentz's career soared with the Philadelphia Eagles, culminating in a Super Bowl LII win. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl in December 2017, ranking third on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2018. His tenure with the Eagles was solidified by a four-year, $128 million contract extension in June 2019. Despite significant injuries, including a torn ACL in 2017 and a concussion in the 2019 NFC Wild Card Round, Wentz persevered, becoming the first quarterback in franchise history to pass for at least 4,000 yards in a season during 2019. His career then took him to the Indianapolis Colts, the Washington Commanders, the Los Angeles Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs, and finally to the Minnesota Vikings, making him the first quarterback to start for six different teams in six consecutive seasons.

Throughout his career, Wentz's prowess on the field has been recognized with numerous awards and records. In 2017, he received the Bert Bell Award and was named a Second-team All-Pro. He set Eagles franchise records for passing yards in a season (4,039 in 2019), passing touchdowns in a season (33 in 2017), pass completions in a season (388 in 2019), and pass attempts in a season (607 in 2016 & 2019). Wentz was also named the Division I Academic All-America Team Member of the Year in 2016, reflecting his dedication to both athletics and academics.
