Carrie Preston

Carrie Preston is an Emmy Award-winning actress, director, and producer known for her versatility in television and film. Trained at Juilliard, Preston made her Broadway debut as Miranda in "The Tempest" alongside Patrick Stewart and later played Honey with Stewart and Mercedes Ruehl in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at The Guthrie Theater. She made her feature film debut in "My Best Friend's Wedding" and has appeared in films such as "Duplicity," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," "Transamerica," "To the Bone," and "Doubt," working with actors including Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Clive Owen, and Julia Roberts.

Preston's television career includes a seven-season role as Arlene Fowler on "True Blood," the HBO fantasy drama. She gained further recognition for her recurring role as Elsbeth Tascioni, an eccentric trial lawyer, on CBS's "The Good Wife," earning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Additional television credits include "Person of Interest," "Crowded," and "Claws." Preston appeared opposite Paul Giamatti in "The Holdovers." Preston's career expanded with the CBS spin-off series "Elsbeth," in which she stars as the central character. The series has received critical acclaim and has been renewed for multiple seasons at CBS.

In addition to her acting, Preston is a director and producer with her production company, Daisy 3 Pictures. Her directorial feature film, "That's What She Said," premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was screened at the Nashville Film Festival, where she received awards including Best Film By a Women Director. Her television directing credits include episodes of "The Good Fight" and Showtime's "Your Honor."
