Caroline Kepnes

Caroline Kepnes is a New York Times bestselling author, screenwriter, and former entertainment journalist known for her work in psychological thrillers and contemporary suspense. Kepnes is the author of the "You" series, which was adapted into a Netflix television series. She graduated from Brown University and worked as a pop culture journalist for Entertainment Weekly and as a television writer for "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "7th Heaven." Kepnes made her series directorial debut with the psychological thriller "The Attentionist," which she is adapting from her own short story.

Kepnes published her debut novel, "You," the first installment in a thriller series centered on serial killer Joe Goldberg. The novel has been translated into 19 languages and was adapted into a television series of the same name. Her first novel was also shortlisted for a CWA New Blood Award. The series continued with "Hidden Bodies" and the standalone romance-suspense thriller "Providence," which features supernatural elements. "You Love Me," the third installment of the "You" series, debuted at number 15 on The New York Times fiction best-seller list.

Kepnes is the author of "You First: A Joe Goldberg Prequel," the fifth book in the "You" series. She contributed as a writer to the Lifetime and Netflix television adaptation. Her short story "The Bad Friend" was selected for Best American Mystery and Suspense, and "Room 24" was nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award.
