Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia is a Spanish professional tennis player known for his achievements on the ATP Tour. Alcaraz reached the top spot in the Association of Tennis Professionals rankings at age 19, becoming the youngest player to achieve this milestone. He attained the number one ranking by winning the U.S. Open, becoming the first male teenaged champion at that major tournament since Pete Sampras. For this accomplishment, he received the Breakthrough of the Year honor at the Laureus Awards.

Born in El Palmar, Spain, Alcaraz began playing tennis at age four at his father's tennis academy. He later trained at Juan Carlos Ferrero's academy. Turning professional as a teenager, Alcaraz made his ATP Tour debut at 16 at the Rio Open. He won his first ATP title at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open and became the youngest tour champion since 2008 and the youngest Spanish champion in 17 years.

Alcaraz's playing style is often compared to Rafael Nadal, featuring an aggressive baseline game and agile court movement. At the Olympic Games Paris, Alcaraz became the youngest player to reach an Olympic gold medal match, ultimately earning a silver medal. His rivalry with Jannik Sinner has become a defining aspect of men's tennis, with their matches drawing significant attention from fans and media. In one season, Alcaraz posted a 71-9 win-loss record, reached 11 finals, and won eight titles, including two Grand Slams and four Masters 1000 titles.

Alcaraz has been named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year and finished as the year-end world No. 1 for the second time. He was also honored with the Best Tennis Player award at the ESPYs.
