Carl Tart

Carl Tart is an American actor, comedian, and writer whose career spans sketch comedy, television, podcasts, and improv. Born in Mississippi on January 5, 1989, he was raised in Los Angeles and developed his comedic talents through improv and sketch work, performing regularly with the Los Angeles branch of Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB).

Over the years, Tart has built a diverse portfolio: he was a featured player on the 2016 sketch series Party Over Here, wrote for the 2016 revival of Mad TV, and has made a name for himself as a frequent guest on the comedy podcast Comedy Bang! Bang!, where his recurring characters and improvisational humor stand out.

As an actor, he’s appeared on screen in a variety of TV comedies and sitcoms — including a starring role as Sherm Jones in the NBC series Grand Crew — showcasing his strong comedic timing and charisma.

In addition to his on‑screen work, in 2024 Tart was hired as a writer for Saturday Night Live, marking a major milestone in his career as he brings his voice and experience into one of the biggest sketch‑comedy institutions in the U.S.
