Candace Carnahan

Candace Carnahan is a safety motivational speaker, empowerment advocate, and workplace injury survivor whose message has reached audiences across multiple continents. After losing her leg in a preventable workplace incident at age 21, Carnahan dedicated her career to promoting safer work environments. Within 10 months of learning to walk with an artificial leg, she traveled internationally, immersing herself in various cultures and gaining new perspectives. Upon her return, she began sharing her experience to help eliminate preventable workplace injuries.

Carnahan's speaking career began when she addressed high school students in her local area, aiming to prevent similar incidents among young people. She became involved with Passport to Safety, a national educational initiative focused on workplace safety culture in Canada. Recognized by Maclean's as one of the Faces of the Future, Carnahan founded her own speaking company and has worked with organizations, companies, and government agencies worldwide. Atlantic Business Magazine named her one of the 25 most powerful women in business.

A graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, Carnahan has received honors such as the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering Safety Professional of the Year Award and has delivered keynote addresses at international events, including the National Safety Council Congress and Expo and the Global Congress on Safety and Health at Work in Sydney, Australia. She has shared the stage with speakers such as Peter Mansbridge, Buzz Aldrin, Chris Hadfield, and Theo Fleury.

With more than two decades of experience, Carnahan delivers keynotes and training sessions that emphasize safety as an opportunity for leadership, growth, and empowerment. She has reached more than half a million people across industries including construction, manufacturing, energy, and healthcare. Carnahan has worked with multinational corporations and trained CEOs, government departments, and employees to approach workplace safety proactively.
