Cameron Adams

Cameron Adams is the co-founder and chief product officer of Canva, a cloud-based visual design platform recognized as one of the most valuable private technology companies. As co-founder and CPO, Adams leads the design platform used by more than 230 million people each month. Since its launch, Canva's global community has expanded to over 240 million monthly users across more than 190 countries, generating more than 35 billion designs. Canva has been valued by private investors at $42 billion, establishing Adams as a significant figure in global technology and digital design.

Adams' journey to co-founding Canva was shaped by a diverse background in law, science, and design. After earning a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, Adams started a design agency that produced work for clients including Atlassian, NEC, TEDx, and Sydney Festival. Adams later joined Google, where he collaborated with Lars and Jens Rasmussen, co-founders of Google Maps, to help realize the design vision for the communication tool Google Wave. He went on to co-found an email startup with two other Google alumni before meeting Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht, ultimately joining them as Canva's third co-founder.

In his role at Canva, Adams oversees product, design, strategy, and company culture, ensuring the platform remains focused on innovation in graphic design, visual communication, and creative collaboration. Canva serves individual creators, small businesses, teams, and Fortune 500 companies, offering tools for design, photos, videos, and sound. Adams has played a key role in Canva's expansion into artificial intelligence, introducing AI-powered features that enable users to design, code, and transform data and photos efficiently.

Beyond Canva, Adams is active in the design and technology community. Through his work and writing—including five books and numerous articles—Adams has contributed to the foundations of modern web design and has spoken at events such as South by Southwest, Slush, London Tech Week, CeBIT, Web Directions, Fronteers, and Sunrise. Adams has addressed challenges in creative AI, particularly the importance of understanding user intent beyond typed input, and has shared insights on product development, emphasizing prototypes and coaching. His experience spans design, engineering, and entrepreneurship, making him a recognized voice in technology, product development, and creative innovation.
