Caleb Hearon Biography

Caleb Hearon is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and podcaster known for his work in contemporary comedy. Hearon studied sociopolitical communication at Missouri State University, where joining the improv team influenced his decision to pursue a career in comedy. After relocating to Chicago, he produced a weekly variety show at the iO Theater and co-hosted a monthly stand-up showcase called "At What Cost?" at the Lincoln Lodge, which he later toured in New York and Los Angeles.

Hearon's early career gained industry attention when an SNL scout saw him perform a character sketch, leading to an audition in front of Lorne Michaels. After not being selected, Hearon began posting character videos on Twitter, which gained prominence for their relatable premises and commentary on topics such as morality and model trains.

Hearon's television and film credits include roles in "Fargo," "Work in Progress," and "Crank Yankers." He joined the writing staff for "Human Resources," a "Big Mouth" spin-off series on Netflix. Hearon co-created and co-wrote the animated series "Best Buds" for Peacock and sold a comedy pilot about two queer friends living in Kansas City, produced with Jax Media. He played Palmer in "Sweethearts," a film starring Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga on Max, and was cast in "The Devil Wears Prada 2" and "Little Brother." Director Lilly Wachowski announced she will helm "Trash Mountain," a queer dramedy co-written by Hearon and Ruby Caster.

Hearon's debut stand-up special, "Model Comedian," filmed at Constellation in Chicago, highlights his approach to observational humor, addressing topics such as politics, internet culture, and generational differences. The special also explores personal themes, including Hearon's experiences as a gay man, turning 30, navigating online criticism, and the death of his father. The special received critical praise for balancing vulnerability with sharp comedic insight.

In addition to his stand-up and screen work, Hearon has developed a following through his podcasting. He previously co-hosted the Headgum podcast "Keeping Records" with Shelby Wolstein before launching his solo podcast "So True with Caleb Hearon." The show features viral clips and conversations with comedians and notable guests, covering art, pop culture, and politics. Hearon has also hosted an annual benefit show supporting the Kansas City Tenant's Union, raising significant funds for local rent strikes.

Hearon was named one of Variety's "10 Creators to Watch" and was nominated for the "Breakthrough Social Star" category at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Rolling Stone recognized him as one of the 25 most influential creators of the year. His podcast "So True" was nominated in the "Outstanding Podcast" category at the GLAAD Media Awards, and he won the "Comic" category at the Queerty Awards. With sold-out tours, multiple film projects, and a popular weekly podcast, Hearon is recognized as a prominent figure in the comedy industry.
