Caissie Levy

Caissie Levy is a Canadian actress and singer known for her work in musical theater and Broadway productions. An Olivier and Grammy-nominated performer, Levy has appeared in nine Broadway productions, three West End shows, and seven original cast albums. She initially studied Shakespeare before auditioning for New York's American Musical and Dramatic Academy and was cast as Maureen Johnson in the U.S. national tour of "Rent" shortly after graduating. This early role launched a career marked by originating and portraying leading characters in major musical theater productions.

Levy's Broadway credits include Penny Pingleton in "Hairspray" and Sheila in "Hair," a role she also performed in the West End. She played Elphaba in the Los Angeles production of "Wicked" and originated the role of Molly Jensen in "Ghost: the Musical" at Manchester Opera House, later reprising the role in London's West End and on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Levy also played Fantine in the Broadway revival of "Les Misérables" and originated the role of Elsa in the stage adaptation of "Frozen," which premiered in Denver before moving to Broadway. She has portrayed the same character as Idina Menzel in three different productions: Elphaba in "Wicked," Maureen in "Rent," and Elsa in "Frozen."

Levy has appeared in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Tom Stoppard's "Leopoldstadt" and as Rose in the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of "Caroline, or Change," earning a Grammy nomination for her performance. She received an Olivier nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in the UK premiere of "Next to Normal" in London's West End and at The Donmar Warehouse, a production that aired on PBS and is available on BroadwayHD. Levy also starred as Mother in a Broadway revival of "Ragtime" and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Beyond the stage, Levy has performed in concert with artists such as Rod Stewart during his Las Vegas residency, headlined Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, and given solo performances across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. She has contributed to various singer-songwriters' records, and her solo EP, "With You," is available on major music platforms. Levy has performed on the Tony Awards four times, reflecting her ongoing influence in the theater industry. She has been recognized by the Drama League for Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater, underscoring her significant contributions to Broadway and musical theater.
