Caissie Levy

Caissie Levy is a Tony Award-winning and Olivier and Grammy-nominated performer known for her work in contemporary musical theater, with credits spanning nine Broadway productions, three West End shows, and seven original cast albums. Levy began her career shortly after graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, when she was cast as Maureen Johnson in the U.S. national tour of "Rent." Her early Broadway roles included Penny Pingleton in "Hairspray" and Sheila in "Hair," a role she also performed in the West End. Levy later starred as Elphaba in the Los Angeles production of "Wicked."

Levy is recognized for originating major roles in musical theater. She created the role of Molly Jensen in both the West End and Broadway productions of "Ghost: The Musical" and played Fantine in the Broadway revival of "Les Misérables" at the Imperial Theatre. She originated the role of Elsa in the stage adaptation of "Frozen," which premiered in Denver before moving to Broadway, remaining with the production for two years. Beyond theater, Levy has performed as a backing vocalist for Rod Stewart during his Las Vegas residency, headlined Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, and given solo performances across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

Levy has continued to take on prominent roles in musical theater, including starring as Rose Stopnick Gellman in the Broadway transfer of "Caroline, or Change." Her performance on the cast recording earned her a Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. She also appeared in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Tom Stoppard's "Leopoldstadt." In London, Levy received an Olivier nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in the UK premiere of "Next to Normal" at Donmar Warehouse, a production later broadcast on PBS and available on BroadwayHD. She reprised the role when the production transferred to Wyndham's Theatre in the West End.

Levy portrayed Mother in the Broadway revival of "Ragtime" at New York City Center, performing alongside Colin Donnell, Brandon Uranowitz, and Joshua Henry, before the production moved to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre for a limited engagement. Her performance in "Ragtime" earned her the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical. Levy's career encompasses originating roles, award-winning revivals, and concert performances, establishing her as a prominent figure in musical theater.
