Bryan Lee O'Malley Biography
Bryan Lee O’Malley is a Canadian cartoonist and writer best known as the creator of the bestselling "Scott Pilgrim" graphic novel series. Born in London, Ontario, and now based in Los Angeles, O’Malley has built a multi-platform career spanning comics, film, television, and video games.
His six-volume "Scott Pilgrim" series, published by Oni Press, became a New York Times bestseller, was a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize, and earned an Eisner Award, two Harvey Awards, a Doug Wright Award, and a Joe Shuster Award. The series was adapted into the critically acclaimed 2010 film "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" (Universal) and the video game "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game" (Ubisoft).
In 2023, O’Malley co-created, wrote, and executive produced the Netflix anime series "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off", expanding the franchise for a new generation. He continues to oversee the legacy of the "Scott Pilgrim" universe while developing new creative work, including the upcoming graphic novel "Worst World" and the revival of his comic series "Snotgirl". He has also been involved in game development related to his properties and has hinted at future cross-media collaborations.
O’Malley is also known for his work as a writer and producer on "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" (2010), "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" (2023), and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game" (2010). He was previously married to cartoonist Hope Larson.
