Bruce Bochy

Bruce Bochy, a seasoned figure in Major League Baseball, holds the unique distinction of being a former player and a renowned manager. His management career spans decades, commencing with the San Diego Padres in 1995 and extending through 2006. Bochy's tenure with the Padres resulted in their second National League West division title in 1996 and a National League pennant in 1998. His exemplary performance earned him the National League Manager of the Year and Sporting News National League Manager of the Year awards in 1996. Notably, Bochy is the only former Padres player to serve as the team's manager on a non-interim basis and participated in the team's first five postseason appearances.

In 2007, Bochy assumed leadership of the San Francisco Giants, a role he held for 13 seasons until 2019. During this time, he guided the Giants to three World Series championships in 2010, 2012, and 2014, making him the first National League manager to win two World Series titles in a three-year span since Sparky Anderson. His 2010 Giants team, described as "a bunch of castoffs and misfits," brought the first championship to San Francisco. Bochy's managerial acumen is further evidenced by the fact that he surpassed Dusty Baker for the most wins in the West Coast portion of Giants history on April 10, 2017. After retiring, Bochy served the Giants as a special assistant to the baseball operations department from November 10, 2025.

Bochy's managerial career also includes a successful stint with the Texas Rangers from 2023 to 2025. Bochy, in his debut year with the Rangers, led the team to their first World Series championship in 2023, making him one of just three managers to win a World Series championship in both the American and National Leagues. This achievement also made Bochy the fifth manager to have won a World Series with multiple teams. Further testament to Bochy's prowess, he is the first European-born manager to win the World Series and the only manager in MLB history to win at least 900 games with two different teams. As of 2025, Bochy ranks sixth on the all-time MLB managerial wins list.
