Brooke Gladstone Biography
Brooke Gladstone, managing editor and co-host of "On the Media," has an extensive background in public radio and media analysis. After beginning her career in print media, Gladstone joined NPR as senior editor of "Weekend Edition with Scott Simon" and later became senior editor of "All Things Considered." She spent a year at Stanford University as a Knight Fellow and reported for NPR from Moscow during Boris Yeltsin's presidency. Gladstone then served as NPR's first media correspondent before joining "On the Media" at its relaunch.
Gladstone has received two Peabody Awards, a National Press Club Award, an Overseas Press Club Award and several others. Her work continues to influence national conversations on media, journalism, and democracy through reporting, public speaking, and appearances at major journalism conferences. She regularly moderates panels and delivers keynote addresses on media literacy and press freedom.
Gladstone is the author of "The Influencing Machine," a graphic nonfiction book on media, recognized by The New Yorker, Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal and The Atlantic. Her commentary addresses the evolving role of journalism, media ethics, and press freedom in society.
