Brian Uridge

Brian T. Uridge is a nationally recognized leader in public safety, healthcare security and violence prevention with more than 30 years of experience across law enforcement, fire services, EMS and complex healthcare systems. Uridge is known for dynamic, engaging presentations and a sustained commitment to improving safety in healthcare settings.

He serves as senior director for the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security, leading enterprise-wide safety strategy for Michigan Medicine and directing the Michigan Medicine Security Department, a team of more than 300 professionals supporting an 11-hospital system that serves five million patients annually. Uridge also serves as deputy director of public safety for Michigan Medicine.

Before joining the University of Michigan, Uridge led security operations for Spectrum Health and contributed to national best practices through Compliance One Group. His law enforcement career included more than two decades with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, where he rose to assistant chief and served 18 years on the SWAT team.

A sought-after national speaker, Uridge is triple-board-certified, holding CPP, CHPA and CTM certifications, and has completed advanced education at Western Michigan University, the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service.
