Rolapp's career in professional sports leadership is rooted in media, finance, and strategy. He began in media investment banking at CIBC World Markets before joining NBC Universal as director of business development, contributing to NBC's cable and new media strategies, including the acquisition of Vivendi Universal Entertainment's cable assets. After his tenure at NBC Universal, Rolapp moved to NFL Network, where he advanced from director of finance and strategy to vice president of media strategy and digital media, then senior vice president, chief operating officer of NFL Media, executive vice president of NFL Media, and CEO and president of NFL Network.
During his time at the NFL, Rolapp was responsible for the league's commercial businesses, including broadcasting and media rights, NFL Media, sponsorship, advertising sales, and consumer products. He managed long-term agreements with media partners Amazon, CBS, ESPN/ABC, FOX, and NBC for the distribution of NFL games across television and digital platforms. Rolapp also played a key role in transitioning NFL Sunday Ticket to YouTube and oversaw the formation of Skydance Sports, a joint venture with Skydance Media and NFL Films to create a global multi-sports production studio. His work earned him recognition in the Sports Business Journal Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame.
As CEO of the PGA Tour, Rolapp oversees the primary U.S. circuit as well as the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Champions, PGA Tour Latinoamerica, and PGA Tour Canada. He established the Future Competitions Committee, chaired by Tiger Woods, to review and shape the competitive model of PGA Tour events. The PGA Tour boards elected Rolapp as commissioner, making him the first individual in the organization's history to hold both CEO and commissioner titles. Rolapp is one of only five people to have held both roles in the PGA Tour's history.
