Brette Simmons

Brette Simmons is an author, public speaker, and coach with a career spanning athletics, ministry, coaching, business, and writing. After a high school athletic career, Simmons earned a college football scholarship to Furman University, where he was a two-time All Southern Conference first team selection and a two-time All-Academic Southern Conference student-athlete. Simmons graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and served as a graduate assistant football coach at Furman.

Following six years as a minister to college students at the University of Tennessee, Simmons joined the football staff at N.C. State University, serving as recruiting coordinator. His work in collegiate athletics provided experience in mentorship, teamwork, and servant leadership, which later influenced his approach as a speaker and coach.

Simmons spent two decades in sales and customer service in both public and private business sectors, expanding his expertise in organizational culture and human performance. He later transitioned to a career as a freelance writer, public speaker, and coach. Simmons is the author of "Man in the Gap," a biography and memoir chronicling the story of Douglas McDowell Bennett, who played a significant role in integrating the schools of Swansea, South Carolina.

As a speaker, Simmons addresses topics such as servant leadership, customer service, coaching philosophy, mentoring, talent recruitment, and storytelling. His presentations include "Leveraging the Power of Grace and Truth," "Are You a 'ME' Coach or a 'WE' Coach?," "Recruiting Top Talent: The Lifeblood of Your Organization," and "The Inspirational Power of Mentoring."
