Bonnie Y Chan

Bonnie Y Chan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) and the Chairman of the Management Committee. She became the first female CEO of HKEX in March 2024. Prior to this role, Chan served as the head of IPO transactions at HKEX from 2007 to 2010 and later rejoined the exchange in 2020 as head of listings. In February 2023, she assumed the position of co-chief operating officer alongside Wilfred Yiu. Apart from her executive roles, Chan is also an ex-officio member of the Listing Committee of the Main Board and GEM of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

As the CEO, Chan is instrumental in overseeing the implementation of HKEX's corporate governance structure and practices. She is committed to maintaining transparent and constructive dialogue with the investment community through HKEX's Investor Relations. Under her leadership, HKEX released the "2024 Sustainability Report" and continues to promote sustainability through its business strategy. This includes initiatives such as the HKEX Charity Partnership Programme, HKEX Impact Funding Scheme, and HKEX University Scholarship Programme to support community and educational development.

Chan's industry contributions and leadership have not gone unnoticed. She was featured on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in business list for 2024 and ranked in the Top 10 in Asia. She was recognized as one of the World Federation of Exchanges’ Women Leaders between 2021 and 2023, and was named The American Lawyer’s Dealmaker of the Year in 2018. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Chan holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and an attorney at law in New York State.
