Bob Stoops Biography
Bob Stoops is a legendary college football coach who led the University of Oklahoma from 1999 to 2016, building one of the most dominant programs in the modern era. In 18 seasons, Stoops compiled a 190–48 record — the most wins in school history — and guided the Sooners to the 2000 National Championship, 10 Big 12 titles, and 18 consecutive bowl appearances. Known for his fast start, he reached 100 wins quicker than any coach in the modern era and went 60–30 against AP Top 25 teams, including 21 wins over top 10 opponents.
Stoops coached 38 first-team All-Americans, helped send 83 players to the NFL, and mentored two Heisman Trophy winners. A seven-time Big 12 Coach of the Year and 2021 College Football Hall of Fame inductee, Stoops is the only coach in BCS history to win a national title and each of the four major BCS bowl games — Fiesta, Orange, Rose, and Sugar. Stoops’ legacy is defined by consistent excellence, championship pedigree, and an unmatched impact on the Oklahoma football program.
