Bob Kramer

Bob Kramer is a recognized leader in the senior living industry, with more than four decades of experience in aging services and seniors housing. Kramer has been known as an agent provocateur in the seniors housing and care sector, identifying trends and disruptions that shape the future of senior housing, aging services, and the broader field of aging. He was educated at Harvard and Oxford and holds a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary.

Kramer co-founded the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) to advance access and choice in senior housing and care by attracting capital to the sector. NIC, a nonprofit organization, serves as a data hub for the seniors housing industry through its NIC MAP service and hosts one of the industry's largest annual conferences. The organization informs debt and equity investors on seniors housing and has helped position the sector as a core real estate property type. Kramer transitioned from the CEO role and continues to serve NIC as strategic advisor.

Kramer has championed research on underserved populations in the aging sector. He conceived and led "The Forgotten Middle," a study examining the health and socioeconomic status of middle-income adults age 75 and older and their ability to afford private pay seniors housing. The report, published in Health Affairs, became one of the most read articles in the journal and highlighted the need for affordable and accessible senior housing solutions for middle-income older adults.

Kramer founded Nexus Insights to rethink aging and develop new models for housing, community, health, and engagement for older adults. His thought leadership spans topics such as senior housing, caregiving, healthy longevity, and ageism, influencing conversations across healthcare, technology, real estate, and public policy.

Kramer has received the McKnight's Pinnacle Career Achievement Award and has been inducted into the ASHA Senior Living Hall of Fame, reflecting his ongoing contributions to the senior housing and long-term care field. His work continues to shape how society approaches aging, senior living, and care for older adults in America.
