Bob Costas

Bob Costas is a well-known figure in modern sports broadcasting, with a career that began in the early 1970s. His journey in broadcasting commenced at WAER, a student-run radio station when he was a freshman at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He later transitioned to the professional arena, joining WSYR-TV and radio in Syracuse in 1973. Costas' career took a significant leap when he joined NBC in 1980, where he showcased his skills in hosting NBC's National Football League (NFL) coverage and National Basketball Association (NBA) coverage for many years.

Throughout his career, Costas has demonstrated impressive versatility, transitioning seamlessly between different roles and sports. His coverage includes hosting NBC's coverage of the U.S. Open golf tournament from 2003 to 2014 and serving as the prime-time host of 12 Olympic Games from 1988 until 2016. His current roles include play-by-play and studio work for MLB on TBS and commentary on CNN, as well as play-by-play and hosting an interview show called "Studio 42 with Bob Costas" on the MLB Network. Costas also authored "Fair Ball: A Fan's Case for Baseball," which is his perspective on Major League Baseball and the fails and successes of the industry.
