Bill Owens Biography
Bill Owens is the former executive producer of "60 Minutes," where he began his tenure in 2003, producing notable segments that include coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the genocide in Sudan, until he exited in 2025. His work also extended to producing an hour-long interview with President George W. Bush for "60 Minutes II." Prior to this, Owens had garnered experience in political events, covering the impeachment of President Bill Clinton as CBS News' senior White House producer.
Advancing in his career, Owens held roles as senior producer and eventually executive editor at "60 Minutes." His leadership attributes were further amplified when he was named executive producer of "60 Minutes" in February 2019. In addition to his role, Owens launched 60MinutesOvertime.com, a website dedicated to originally produced "60 Minutes" content.
Owens has received an Emmy Award, an IRE Award, and contributed to a RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Overall Excellence Award. In April 2019, he was recognized as one of Hollywood Reporter's 35 Most Powerful Media Leaders. In May 2012, Towson University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
