Bernd Montag

Bernd Montag, Ph.D., is the chief executive officer of Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in medical technology and healthcare solutions headquartered in Erlangen, Germany. Montag has led the company since February 2015, overseeing its growth into one of the world’s most influential healthcare organizations and guiding its public listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and inclusion in Germany’s DAX stock index.

Montag began his career at Siemens in 1995, holding roles in corporate quality management and sales before transitioning to the imaging systems division. He has served in leadership positions across computed tomography, magnetic resonance, and imaging and therapy systems — developing deep expertise in diagnostic imaging, image‑guided therapy, and healthcare innovation.

Under his leadership, Siemens Healthineers has strengthened its position in precision medicine, digital health, and AI‑enabled solutions that improve patient outcomes and expand access to care worldwide. Montag studied physics at Friedrich‑Alexander‑University Erlangen‑Nuremberg, where he earned a doctorate in theoretical multi‑particle physics. He was born in Munich, Germany.
