Ben Sheehan

Ben Sheehan is a best-selling author, digital creator, and civics educator whose work focuses on the intersection of entertainment and democracy. Sheehan is a former producer at Funny Or Die and holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and American studies from Emory University, as well as a Master of Arts from New York University in music business. After working as an executive producer in the entertainment industry, Sheehan shifted his focus to politics to address gaps in public understanding of government.

Sheehan is known for the book "OMG WTF Does the Constitution Actually Say?," which reached the top of Amazon's Best Seller chart. The book, reviewed by experts in constitutional law, offers an accessible guide to the Constitution, featuring explanatory notes and infographics on topics such as the Second Amendment and Supreme Court nominations. He also authored a companion children's edition, "What Does the Constitution Say?." Sheehan's voter engagement efforts include registering tens of thousands of new voters as executive director of Save the Day and founding OMG WTF (Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida) to educate voters about state executive races. His project Gerrymander Jewelry was recognized as a finalist for Fast Company World Changing Ideas.

As a digital creator, Sheehan has received Webby, Shorty, and Reed awards for his work at Funny Or Die and HL Strategies, the creative firm he co-founded. The Hollywood Reporter named him among the entertainment industry's NextGen: 35 Rising Executives Under 35. Digital videos he has produced have garnered more than a billion views. Sheehan hosts the PBS series "Civics Made Easy," a twelve-part program exploring the fundamentals of American government. He serves as executive producer, host, and writer for the series, which is available on the PBS app, PBS.org, and YouTube.
