Benjamin "BeBe" Winans is a vocalist, songwriter, and producer recognized for his contributions to gospel, R&B, and inspirational music. Winans is a member of the Winans family, often referred to as the first family of gospel music. He has received six Grammy Awards—three as a solo artist and three with CeCe Winans—along with ten Dove Awards, six Stellar Awards, three NAACP Awards, and a Soul Train Award.
Winans began his career as a background singer with his brothers, The Winans, and for the Praise The Lord television show. He and his sister, CeCe Winans, recorded an album for The PTL Club before focusing exclusively on their work as a duo. Together, they released several hit songs, including "Heaven," "Addictive Love," and "I'll Take You There," and achieved gold and platinum status with albums such as "BeBe & CeCe Winans," "Heaven," "Different Lifestyles," "First Christmas," and "Relationships." After their collaborative success, both artists pursued solo careers.
Winans released his self-titled solo debut album, which featured singles such as "In Harms' Way," "Thank You," and the international crossover hit "I Wanna Be the Only One," featuring Eternal. His follow-up album, "Love & Freedom," included production from Warryn Campbell, Brian McKnight, and Masters at Work. Winans later established his own record label, The Movement Group, and partnered with Still Waters. He released "Dream," featuring the single "I Have a Dream," and "Cherch." Winans has collaborated with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Whitney Houston.
Winans and CeCe Winans launched B&C Records, releasing "Still," which earned two Grammy Awards and five Stellar Awards. The album includes the Billboard chart-topping single "Close To You" and the Grammy-winning "Grace." "Close To You" was named BMI's Most Performed Gospel Song of the Year and received the Dove Award for Urban Recorded Song of the Year.
Winans and CeCe Winans have performed on Oprah, Good Morning America, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The duo received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Winans also launched a weekly radio show on SiriusXM Radio, "The BeBe Experience."
As an actor, Winans appeared in "The Manchurian Candidate." He served as a judge and executive producer on BET's "Sunday Best" and co-starred in the Broadway production of "The Color Purple." Winans also played himself in a television motion picture broadcast on Gospel Music Channel.
