BTS

BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean seven-member boy band composed of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. Initially formed as a hip hop group, BTS expanded its musical style to include a variety of genres. The group's lyrics address topics such as mental health, youth issues, coming of age, loss, self-love, individualism, and the impact of fame. BTS debuted under Big Hit Entertainment with the single album "2 Cool 4 Skool." The band is recognized for writing its own lyrics and focusing on social issues, self-love, individuality, and empowerment.

BTS's popularity increased with each release, including "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1" and "Part 2," which preceded the group's first world tour. The album "Wings" marked a milestone as the band's first to debut on both the Canadian Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 charts.

BTS achieved several historic chart milestones, including the album "Love Yourself: Tear" debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, making BTS the only K-pop act to reach this position. The group released the English-language single "Dynamite," which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and its music video set a record for YouTube views in 24 hours. The single "Butter" also debuted at number one on the Hot 100, making BTS the fastest act to achieve four chart-toppers since Justin Timberlake and the fastest group since Jackson 5. The collaboration single "My Universe" with Coldplay debuted at number one on the Hot 100, marking the first time two groups debuted at number one together. BTS became the first group to surpass 30 billion streams on Spotify.

BTS is the best-selling musical act in South Korean history, according to Circle Chart, with more than 40 million albums sold. The group is the first non-English-speaking and Asian act to sell out concerts at Wembley Stadium and the Rose Bowl. BTS was named the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's Global Recording Artist of the Year multiple times. The group has won 67 Daesangs and holds the record as the most-awarded artist in South Korean history. BTS has attained 26 Guinness World Records, including most Twitter engagements and most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours, and was inducted into the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame. At the American Music Awards, BTS won Artist of the Year, becoming the first Asian act to receive this honor. The group has addressed sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and partnered with UNICEF for the "Love Myself" anti-violence campaign.

BTS announced a hiatus to fulfill mandatory South Korean military obligations, with all members renewing contracts to reunite after service. The album "ARIRANG," recorded during this period, debuted atop the Billboard 200 and sold 641,000 equivalent album units, with the lead single "Swim" also debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The Arirang World Tour, the group's sixth concert tour, marked BTS's return to live performances and included more than 88 dates in 34 cities across 23 countries, with tickets selling out rapidly in South Korea, North America, and Europe. In 2026, they co-headlined the inaugural FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show.
