Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks is a rapper, singer, and songwriter recognized for her genre-blending approach to hip-hop, rap, and electronic music. Banks attended LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, initially pursuing acting with roles in off-Broadway productions before shifting her focus to music in her late teens.

Banks began releasing music through Myspace before signing with XL Recordings at age 18. Her debut single, "212," became a defining track of the decade, earning international recognition and appearing on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time." The single charted in Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, where it achieved Platinum certification.

Following the success of "212," Banks released the EP "1991" and the mixtape "Fantasea." After delays with record labels, she independently released her debut album, "Broke with Expensive Taste," through her own label, Chaos & Glory Recordings. The album was noted for its eclectic sound and lyrical depth. Banks continued to expand her discography with the mixtape "Slay-Z," the EP "Icy Colors Change," and the mixtape "Yung Rapunxel: Pt. II," exploring a range of styles including EDM, house, and trap.

Banks returned to acting with a leading role in the musical drama "Love Beats Rhymes," directed by RZA. She also released "Zenzealia," a spoken guided meditation co-produced with Kornél Kovács, further showcasing her versatility.

Throughout her career, Banks has been recognized for her rapid-fire flow, innovative beats, and influence as a female MC in hip-hop. Her work has contributed to the evolution of contemporary rap and inspired artists such as CupcakKe, Saweetie, and Snow Tha Product.
