Avraham Fried (born Avraham Shabsi HaKohen Friedman on March 22, 1959) is a celebrated American Orthodox Jewish singer known for blending traditional Chassidic melodies with contemporary musical styles. Since launching his career in the early 1980s, he has become one of the most beloved and influential voices in Jewish music.
Encouraged by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Fried released his debut album, No Jew Will Be Left Behind, in 1981. This marked the start of a prolific journey, with numerous hits written by notable composers like Yossi Green. Songs such as “Aderaba,” “Tanya,” and “Didoh Bei” are among his most recognized and enduring tracks.
His music blends genres like pop, jazz, and rock with deeply spiritual and Jewish-themed lyrics. He is known for his passionate live performances and has been a regular at major Jewish events, including the annual HASC concerts that support children with special needs.
Born into a large Chabad-Lubavitch family, Fried is the youngest of eight siblings, many of whom are involved in Jewish outreach. He lives in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, with his wife and children, and continues to inspire and uplift audiences around the world through his music.
