Auston Trusty

Auston Trusty is a professional soccer player who plays as a center back for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and the United States men's national team. Trusty developed through the Philadelphia Union youth academy, signing an amateur United Soccer League contract with Bethlehem Steel before earning a homegrown player deal with Philadelphia Union. At age 20, he made 34 starts at center back for the Union and was the only player on the team to play every minute of every regular-season match, setting a league record for the youngest field player to do so over a 34-game schedule.

Trusty's professional career has included stints in Major League Soccer, the Premier League, and the EFL Championship. After signing with Arsenal, he was loaned to Birmingham City, where he played every minute of the league season, made 44 appearances in all competitions, scored four goals, and was voted Player of the Season by supporters. Trusty later joined Sheffield United, making his Premier League debut and continuing to demonstrate his adaptability and defensive skills across multiple leagues.

Trusty signed with Celtic on a five-year contract, joining fellow United States international Cameron Carter-Vickers. He became a regular starter at center back for the club and made his UEFA Champions League debut against Slovan Bratislava. With Celtic, Trusty contributed to consecutive Scottish Premiership titles and a Scottish Cup victory. His defensive statistics include winning approximately 65 percent of aerial contests, 63 percent of ground duels, and blocking 50 shots, highlighting his effectiveness as a modern, ball-playing defender.

Internationally, Trusty has been a key figure for the United States men's national team, contributing to a CONCACAF Nations League title. He was named to the USMNT World Cup roster and became the third player in the modern era to score his first international goal during a World Cup, as well as the first Philadelphia Union homegrown player to score at a FIFA World Cup. Standing at 6-foot-3, Trusty is recognized for his aerial ability, recovery speed, and left-footed distribution, making him a consistent presence for both club and country in professional soccer.
