Asante Blackk

Asante Blackk is an American actor known for his work in television, film, and theater. Blackk began acting as an elementary school student, making his stage debut as Mowgli in a production of "The Jungle Book." He continued to develop his craft throughout high school, where he was recognized as the most promising actor at the Maryland Thespian Festival and served as president of his school's theater club. His first professional stage role was in "How I Learned to Be a Kid" at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Blackk's breakthrough came with his role in Ava DuVernay's Netflix miniseries "When They See Us," in which he portrayed Kevin Richardson, one of the wrongly convicted members of the Central Park Five. This role, his first television project, earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie, making him one of the youngest acting nominees in Emmy history. The performance also brought nominations from the Critics' Choice Awards, Black Reel Awards, and NAACP Image Awards, and contributed to the series earning 16 Emmy nominations. Blackk later joined the cast of NBC drama "This Is Us" as Malik Hodges, a recurring role that earned him a second Critics' Choice Award nomination. He expanded into film with leading roles in the science fiction feature "Landscape with Invisible Hand" and the independent drama "Story Ave." Blackk has also provided voice work for the Disney+ animated series "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder." His television credits include a recurring role in the third season of HBO's "Euphoria" and a role in the pilot for a "Snowfall" spinoff.
