Arpa Garay

Arpa Garay is a healthcare executive with more than two decades of global general management experience across geographies, therapeutic areas, and product lifecycles. Garay's career includes driving business growth, fostering innovation in the evolving global healthcare environment, providing strategic insight for mergers and acquisitions, and leading diverse teams within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Garay earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on medicine, public health, and public policy. She began her career as a management consultant at Monitor Group, now Monitor Deloitte, gaining experience across various industries and business challenges. Garay later served as associate director at Bristol-Myers Squibb before joining Merck, where she held roles of increasing responsibility across oncology, vaccines, specialty, and chronic care.

At Merck, Garay led the company's business in Norway as managing director, collaborating with the government on healthcare policy, developing approaches to patient access, and leading the subsidiary to become the top pharmaceutical company in the country. She also served as senior vice president of U.S. Vaccines, overseeing efforts to expand vaccine coverage and improve public health outcomes.

Garay held the position of chief marketing officer for Merck's Human Health business, where she was responsible for long-term portfolio strategy and global marketing for in-line and pipeline medicines and vaccines. Her responsibilities included global market access, pricing strategy, data and analytics, digital marketing, and commercial business development. She also served as president of Global Oncology and Digital at MSD, leading commercialization and business development for the oncology portfolio, including alliances with AstraZeneca, Eisai, and Seagen.

Garay joined Moderna as chief commercial officer, serving on the Executive Committee and reporting to the chief executive officer. At Moderna, she leverages her experience in commercial leadership, digital strategy, and international business within the biotechnology sector, focusing on messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics and vaccines.
